Greener and Fairer

The GameChanger partners are committed to using the emotional and physical assets of the club to support a fairer society,  through the creation of the Wellbeing Centre, which is a community resource that is increasingly well used and is free of charge to GameChanger partners and community groups.

We are also working to increase awareness of sustainability and improve our environment through plans to create a community garden, and to encourage community growing.

Wellbeing Centre

The founding partners have worked together to create a GameChanger Wellbeing Centre in the Famous Five (North) Stand at Easter Road Stadium - a place that partners can use for health and wellbeing activities and endeavours free of charge.
This invaluable space can cater for everything from small meetings to bigger events, and has been used by a wide range of community and charity groups, as well as those involved in healthcare.

AN AVERAGE OF ALMOST 10 COMMUNITY EVENTS NOW TAKE PLACE EACH MONTH AT THE CENTRE

A Field of Our Own

A Field of Our Own is a play commissioned by GameChanger for Edinburgh’s Festival Fringe using the Club’s historic origins to communicate contemporary messages around immigration, integration, acceptance and the role of football in tackling issues like isolation and loneliness.

Community Actors were used, although the writer, director and supporting production team were all full-time professionals in their field.

We think it’s fair to say that audiences loved the sell-out play.  We have had amazing feedback including from the Chief Executive of the Edinburgh Fringe who attended the opening night, three good press reviews and TV and radio coverage.

We now working on the energy and commitment that the production has sparked to date to create community engagement legacy from the play.

MORE THAN 1000 PEOPLE ATTENDED THE PLAY

We are committed to encouraging a community growing project, working with GameChanger partners, and GameChanger is also working up plans to create a garden of contemplation/remembrance at the stadium in partnership with other organisations.
