Spreading the word: A case study of the GameChanger partnership

April 24, 2020

The GameChanger partnership, is thought to be the first of it's kind in Scotland, using a football club to harness change.

In March, an article was published to the Journal of Integrated Care to explore partnership working, using GameChanger as a case study. The authors include, Dr Linda Irvine Fitzpatrick, Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership; Leanne Dempster, Chief Executive Officer of Hibernian FC; Dr Donald MacIver and Professor Kirsty Forsyth, Queen Margaret University.

Their focus was the partnership working between Hibernian FC (Commercial sector), Hibernian Community Foundation (Third Sector) and NHS Lothian (Public sector) and how the power of football has been used to tackle a number of health inequalities and social exclusion.

There is strong community influence seen throughout all of the GameChanger projects, with significant reach to deliver it's intended benefits. GameChanger has provided a means for football to take a different approach to how it works to benefit communities.
